10th January 2018
Nine newly trained volunteer advisers have joined Citizens Advice Winchester after completing their intensive training programme kindly sponsored by Richard Steel & Partners, The Family Owned Funeral Directors of Winchester.
The new recruits received specialist training in interviewing skills and key subjects including the benefits system, debt management, housing and employment. They will now join the team of 62 other volunteer advisers in the Winchester & Bishop’s Waltham offices to help over 14,000 advice issues by the charity every year.
Gill Ormond, Training Manager at CAB said ‘We want to make sure our advisers give appropriate, valid and current advice, so we run a very vigorous training programme, ensuring they have the skills to deal with any problem they are faced with’.
‘As a local charity Citizens Advice Winchester relies on local funding and support from local businesses to keep this essential service running’ said Natalie Webb, Chief Officer, Citizens Advice Winchester District.
Iain Steel, MD of Richard Steel & Partners, said ‘We are delighted to have supported these new advisers through their training, and our association with Winchester CAB was a direct result of our recent win at the Winchester Business Awards 2017. An element of the community supporting the community’.
