Richard Steel & Partners are proud to be the only Family Owned Funeral Directors in Winchester continuing four generations of vocational service to the local community, since 1860.
Richard, Iain and Mark are ably assisted by qualified Funeral Directors John Barton-Rumbold and Chelsea Duke and David Westbrook, backed by a highly dedicated team who are proud to continue the family's tradition with the emphasis on personal family care.
John Steel was indentured to Frederick Savage, the local builder and undertaker, for the princely sum of one shilling per week, rising to five shillings per week after five years. He was joined by his nephew, Stanley Steel in 1921. Stanley served on Winchester City Council for over 25 years, twice having the honour of being elected Mayor; our premises in City Road are named Alderman House in his memory.
