Winchester Hospice benefits from Annual Memorial Service 2019
27th July 2019
Over £600 was raised for the Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity at the Annual Memorial Service on 14th July 2019.
Held for the first time in the newly refurbished Chesil Suite at Chesil House, Winchester, the service was led by Revd Mike Griffiths from East Winchester benefice. Hymns included Lord of all hopefulness, Be still for the presence of the Lord, Abide with me and Jerusalem, readings were from ‘Piano’ by DH Lawrence & Ephesians chapter 3.
During the service individual red roses were handed out to the whole congregation in remembrance, these were then taken home, placed in the memorial garden or scattered into the flowing water of the private tributary of the River Itchen.
Tea and cake were provided by The Little Kitchen Company in the beautiful Gathering Room next to The Chapel, giving the opportunity to look over the Memorial Garden from The Deck.
Always held in early July, the Annual Memorial Service has been hosted by the Steel family for over 28 years.
